The Risks of Boating While Intoxicated
Boating While Intoxicated Can Come with Consequences
In many states there is a fine line between having fun on the water and pushing your limits. In many states being arrested for driving a boat while intoxicated is treated the same as a DUI. Some charge on proven visible impairment and others will be charged on blood alcohol content above .08. Alcohol is not the only trigger for a BUI charge as well. If someone is not intoxicated but is visibly impaired by other substances they can be changed with the same criminal offenses. In many states the stats 1 out of 4 boating deaths have been related to intoxication.

There are many factors that can play into someones physical impairment such as hydration, medications, weight, and fatigue. As a boat operator it is imperative that they remain sober and aware of dangers on the water as well.
